Private by design
Most “online” QR scanners upload your image to a server to decode it. This one doesn’t. The camera feed and any image you add are processed entirely in your browser using your device’s own processor — nothing is transmitted, stored or logged. That makes it safe for scanning codes that contain Wi-Fi passwords, contact details or payment links.

Is the QR code scanner private?
Yes. Scanning happens entirely in your browser. Neither the camera feed nor the image you upload is ever sent to a server — the decoded result stays on your device.
Can I scan a QR code from an image or screenshot?
Yes. Drag in a photo or screenshot, choose a file, or paste an image from your clipboard, and the code is decoded locally.
Do I need to install an app?
No. It runs in any modern browser on phone or desktop — no app and no sign-up. Camera access is optional and only used for live scanning.
Why won’t my camera start?
Browsers only allow camera access over a secure (https) connection, and you must grant permission when prompted. If you declined, re-enable camera access for this site in your browser settings — or just scan from an image instead.
Is it safe to open what a QR code contains?
The scan itself is safe — a QR code is only data. But treat the destination like any link: we show you the decoded content first so you can check it before opening.
