Getting started
Is QRcodeUniverse really free?
Yes. Every feature is completely free — no account, no watermark and no limit on how many QR codes you create or download.
Do I need to sign up or install anything?
No. There is no sign-up and nothing to install. The generator and scanner run in any modern browser on phone or desktop.
How do I make a QR code?
Choose a content type, enter your link or details, customise the colours, logo and frame, then download. Our step-by-step guide walks through it in under a minute.
Scanning & reliability
Do the QR codes expire?
No. We create static QR codes that encode your data directly, so they never expire and keep working forever with no hosting required.
Can I add my logo and still have it scan?
Yes. Upload an image for the centre of the code and keep error correction on High. Keep the logo to about a quarter of the code’s width so it stays reliably scannable.
Why won’t my QR code scan?
The usual causes are low contrast, a code printed too small for the scan distance, or a logo that covers too much of the pattern. Keep dark modules on a light background, follow the 10:1 size rule and watch the built-in scan-safety meter.

What file formats can I download?
PNG, JPG and WebP for screens, plus vector SVG, PDF and EPS for print — at sizes up to 2048 pixels, with an optional transparent background.
Which format is best for printing?
A vector format — SVG, PDF or EPS — because it stays perfectly sharp at any size, from a business card to a billboard.
How big should a printed QR code be?
Use the 10:1 rule: make the code about one-tenth of the distance it will be scanned from. A minimum of about 2×2 cm works for close-up scanning.
Privacy & security
Are my QR codes private?
Yes. Everything is generated in your browser — the links and content you enter are never uploaded to a server.
Is the QR scanner private too?
Yes. The scanner decodes camera frames and uploaded images entirely on your device; nothing is transmitted or stored.
